What Do YOU Want to See?
Any of you folks who follow this web site certainly knows it comes and goes in spurts. A huge part of that is me trying to find the time and the inspiration to add content. The other issue I struggle with is figuring out just exactly what it is I’d like to focus on and write about.
I tend to want to write articles that are more editorial in nature, and while I don’t necessarily see this site as being devoted to news, I do think there is room for dealing with current issues that affect our community.
I want to try and avoid negativity as much as possible, but at the same time, I don’t want to shy away from writing about things that I feel need to be written about. My goal would be to try and accomplish that in a way that helps to open a discussion on finding solutions to the problems we face instead of just talking about those problems or being seen as cynical and bullying. I think it is in our nature to avoid openly discussing a lot of these things, but I don’t think that strategy is doing very much to help move us forward.
I want to create content that gets us all talking. I want to offer more in the way of shorter, easier to read articles that touch on an issue and encourage input from everyone in the community. That was the original idea behind the name of the site…the Morgan Minute. I envisioned it being a collection of mostly shorter articles geared towards generating and facilitating a discussion.
I also hope to find a few more budding writers within the community. If you are interested, just hit me up at email@example.com, and let me know what you have in mind. My preference would be to have it be a topic you are very interested in and willing to write about on a semi-regular basis, but I’m (mostly) open to whatever you have in mind. =)
I plan to contribute more content focused on technology-related topics, and I want to do more product/music/TV/movie reviews, but those items are certainly not off-limits if you’d like to contribute that type of content, as well.
Another area I’m very interested in and want to devote more space to is the promotion of art and the artists in our region. We have an amazing collection of gifted people in and around our community, and the more that can be done to help get the word out about their talents, the better.
At the heart of it, I guess I want this site to be an agent of change in our community. A place where we can discuss victories as well as struggles, and hopefully find ways to help lift us all and bring us closer together.
So what are some things YOU would like to see more of on the site? What are the sorts of things that would have you visiting more regularly and engaging in discussion more often? (besides there actually being content placed on the site more regularly…that issue I am already aware of!)
I think there is a real opportunity here to create a site that is an integral and important piece of the community, without being nasty or overly cynical, while at the same time, not being afraid to discuss things that need discussing.
And, as I’ve said from the beginning, it is about YOUR voice in Morgan County…so let’s hear it!
