We hardly knew ya….

I just “tweeted” it, but I wanted to post it here, too…ESPN and multiple other sources are now reporting that Gillispie is out as the UK Men’s Basketball coach. A press conference is scheduled for 4:30pm.

Donovan, Ford, Barnes, Izzo…who knows. It all gets crazy now, but I suspect Barnhart and Todd had some strong indications from someone out there that they’d take this job, which allowed them to pull the trigger on this move more confidently.

We shall all see, I suppose. I, for one, will miss Billy G.

WKYT reporting that bill d is not interested in the UK job…….

The media is sort of playing up that Billy D and John Cal have already said, “thanks, but no thanks”…but the truth is, there probably hadn’t even been an OFFER for them to reject yet.

also, the statements i’ve seen seemed VERY carefully worded so that they were covering themselves, should UK come calling. I’m not saying it will BE Billy D, but I don’t think he’s completely out of the picture yet.

The Calipari rumors are gaining a lot of momentum, as well. Some sources inside the Administration are releasing hints in this direction…who knows!

What i DO know is that stories are starting to come out about Billy G’s treatment of players, and how THAT ultimately contributed to his demise. I will find some of the things that are being stated (I cannot verify, of course…)…but I will find them and share.

Meanwhile, looks like Jodie Meeks was pretty OK with this decision…and I’ll share a little more info on WHY in just a bit…

“He’s a hard working coach and I have a lot of respect for him, but a decision was made, it was out of our hands,” junior Jodie Meeks said in an exclusive interview with the Kernel. “… I think the final decision was a good decision and I wish him luck.”

“I’m going to agree with whatever the staff decides, and they decided for the change, and I’m all with what they decided,” Meeks said. “We’re going to have to move forward.”

Billy G’s 11am press conference was pretty interesting…i’d say there is a pretty ugly legal battle coming soon…

    and the coaching watch continues
