The Bradley’s invade Virginia Beach…and The Cheesecake Factory!

smokehouse burger 2

We just returned from vacation from Virginia Beach.   We had a blast,  lounging on the beach, watching our 3 year old play in the water, helping her build sand castles, and going for the occassional dip or two ourselves.  But, other than soaking up the sun, we made sure we exercised our taste buds to their fullest!  And one of the more enjoyable places we dined was none other than The Cheesecake Factory in downtown Virginia Beach.

Presenting itself as a classic, upscale restaurant, with French and Italian architectural influences, the same look is also represented in their food.  However, …

Bradley Family Favorite – Ina Garten’s Fleur de Sel Caramels

Fleur de Sel Caramels

Candy.  They say it brings out the kid in us.  But, there’s some “adult” candy out there just yearning to be tried.  Introducing, Ina Garten’s Fleur de Sel Caramels.

I know that many of you are probably wondering, what in the world is Fleur de Sel?  Well, basically, it’s a French sea salt, usually found in specialty food stores and online.  The salt is usually very light in texture and flaked.  As far as flavor goes, critics say it’s the finest sea salt available.  Since we do not have any specialty food stores close to our area, you can easily …

Barista Battle : Tassimo vs Dolce Gusto

In what sounds like an Italian wrestling match, we take a look in this review at 2 of the single-serve coffee machines on the market currently, the Bosch Tassimo system and the Nescafe Dolce Gusto (the Keurig system is the other primary brand of single-serve brewer, but isn’t reviewed here).

Single-serve coffee brewing systems have gained some steam, so to speak, over the past few years, due in part to their ability to pump out just enough coffee for one person, ensuring that the coffee you get is freshly brewed and hasn’t been sitting in a pot all day long.  …

Cardinology: Ryan Adams and the Cardinals

I’m a pretty big fan of this man and his band, the Cardinals.

For a long time, Ryan Adams (not BRYAN Adams) developed quite a reputation not only for his music, which has always been well received critically, but also for his behavior on stage during shows.  Many of those problems have been attributed to drinking and whatever, but those days seem to be gone now.

I was able to catch Ryan Adams and the Cardinals in Louisville in 2007, and then later that year in Columbus, and both shows, while extremely different in style, were incredible.  After seeing them …

My Morning Jacket: Evil Urges

This band from Louisville is one of my favorites, and their new album, “Evil Urges” hits the shelves tomorrow.

I have been fortunate enough to hear it in advance, and it is fantastic…probably my favorite that they’ve done so far.

So…give it a listen.  Support a Kentucky band that’s out there trying to win hearts and minds and melt faces, and maybe go check them out in Louisville in August.  I sure plan to.

This past Sunday (December 16th), the series finale of the HBO series "Extras" premiered.  If you haven’t been watching the show, shame on you.  (well, maybe that is a little harsh..but you really should be watching!)  "Extras" is from the same guys who developed the original BBC series, "The Office"…Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant.

This show follows the lives of Andy Millman (Gervais), and his friend Maggie Jacobs (Ashley Jensen), as they scrape out a living as extras in movies and TV shows.  I won’t bore you with all of the details, but I do want to include a clip …
