September 11, 2001…Do you remember?

Growing up, I can remember adults talking about tragic or triumphant historical events that they had experienced, and how they could remember what they were doing that day…the JFK assassination…the moon landing…and as a kid, I never really thought anything like that would happen in my lifetime. That all changed the day the Space Shuttle Challenger disintegrated 73 seconds after liftoff on January 28, 1986. I was home sick from school that day, and I remember the coverage very clearly.

I also remember even more clearly where I was and what I was doing on September 11, 2001. I was getting ready to go into work and had gotten caught up in some stupid movie with Danny Kaye (yes…Danny Kaye)…right before I decided to finally break free from it’s hypnotic trance, I flipped over to NBC and the Today show, and they were showing the coverage from the first impact. At that point, not a lot of information was known, and it all unfolded as I sat there and watched. I will never forget it.

So how about you? Do you have a story from that day that you’d like to share?
