Keep the votes coming!

If you haven’t voted in our local election poll, please head on over and take part.  It is completely anonymous, unscientific, and fun.  So, how can you go wrong??

So far, several of the races are VERY tight, which makes me wonder if maybe that will be reflected on election day?

Interesting stuff either way!…

Missed it by THAT much…

If you looked at the radar, that is about how far we were from a big mess.

As most of you know, this past weekend was a doozy as far as the weather goes.  Nashville was nearly washed away, recording over 20 inches of rain during the weekend.  Parts of western Kentucky recorded over 10 inches of rain, and nearby in Morehead, they got a bit over 7 inches, according to the Kentucky Mesonet.  The same system measured just over 3 inches here in West Liberty, with another station in Morgan County recording a little over 5 inches,  but it …

Cast your votes…

If you don't complain, you can't vote. Wait...no...

**UPDATE** There has been a great response so far, with some of the races getting over 90 votes, so keep them coming!!  I’ll probably shut it down on Friday, or at least make a post with the final results.  Some of the races are VERY close right now, and some are a little surprising to me, but who knows how accurate it will be at predicting the actual outcomes.  Keep those votes coming!!

Alrighty folks…we’ve had some random polls on here before, but this is the first time I’ve ever actually A) …

The polls are open…almost.

Pick your favorites.

I am working on putting some polls together to get an idea of how the local and state elections might shape up in May.  I just need to make sure that I have every candidate listed for each office, and then I’ll get them up here.  It will all be very unscientific, of course, but it might be fun to start getting an idea of who you support.

In some other highlights today…

American Idol had Shania Twain week last night, and I guess it was OK.  I think the judges were pretty much right-on for everyone …

Bad weather weekend…

Well, for a few weeks, it started to seem like we might never see rain again.  April showers were nowhere to be found.

By Friday and this past weekend, however, they showed back up in a big way.  We had a severe thunderstorm warning, and, according to kymesonet.org, we’ve now had over 2 inches of rain since Friday.  It looks like rain is in the forecast today and tomorrow, followed by some pretty days on Wednesday, Thursday, and possibly for part of Kentucky Oaks Day on Friday, but it is looking more and more like rain settles back in for …

A little afternoon rundown…(4-23-2010)

It is Thursday.  Tomorrow is Friday.  That makes me very, very happy.  Here’s some random stuff this afternoon…

– John Wall said his official goodbye today to UK fans.  It is strange to get so attached to 1-year players, but John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins will always be 2 of my all-time UK favorites.  Wall said he will be telling every player to come to UK, joining in the sentiments expressed by Boogie that he truly loved his time here.  That is great to see, and they will be missed. Here is a video of his press conference.

– It …

A Couple of Monday Evening Notes and Thoughts…

Just a few things on my mind on this cool, Monday, April evening…

For Black Crowes fans, they have just announced that they are releasing a 2-record set (on CD and vinyl) this fall with all-acoustic versions of songs they’ve made over the past 20 years.  Called simply Croweology, it will be priced as a single album price to honor all the fans.  The new album release will be followed by a huge tour starting this fall, where they’ll play for 3 hours at most venues.  A 1.5 hour acoustic set will open the shows, followed by 1.5 hours of …

Weekend Plans?

Do you know how hard it is to find a graphic that says "have a good weekend"??

Well, after what has seemed like the longest week ever, the weekend is finally here.  I find it funny that often times, I can spend all week thinking about things I need or want to get done but can’t because I have to be at work…then the weekend arrives, and I can’t seem to think of any of them. 🙂

So what do we have lined up for this weekend?

For one thing, it needs to rain.  It is WAY too dry…and along …

Budget Agreement Unlikely

Can't we all just get along?

Since I didn’t watch American Idol last night, let’s recap another show that’s about run to run its course…the bickering over Kentucky’s budget.  Apparently, Senate leader David Williams went on the radio this morning in Lexington and said it was unlikely that the House and Senate will be able to reach an agreement on a budget before the midnight deadline tomorrow night.

Let’s recap, shall we?

First, the Governor sent up a budget that made some cuts, spent some money, and relied on expanded gambling to generate some much needed revenue.  The House basically …
