Morgan County Export – Lance Williams – Nashville, TN

Recent Facebook quote: "Tomorrow is Lebron James day, everyone gets to leave work 12 minutes early."

So what happens when US 460 or KY Route 7 deliver folks away from West Liberty?

In this series, Matt Jarrells works to track down those who rambled off when they heard the call of the Big City.  And by ‘series’ I mean you will very likely never see another one of these.

Lance Aaron Williams graduated from Morgan County High School in 1992. He played offensive tackle for the football Cougars under Bruce P. Herdman and is a founding member of BALK fantasy baseball league with MCHS Athletic Director Chris Trusty and teacher Stephen McKenzie. Lance is a 1996 …

What REALLY goes on at Morgan Minute HQ

Well, I write on here often about my plans and dreams for this site…and they are quite ambitious…but then, life just sort of seems to get in the way (plus, having to go to my ACTUAL job, and work on our house, and find time to do whatever else needs to be done…)…and I go missing for weeks at a time.

This site deserves better than that…and I’m going to try and see that it gets it, sooner rather than later.  So…I think it is time to find some other folks who …

Record cold debunks global warming? Not so fast…

A sign of things to come?

A sign of things to come?

I’ve heard it.  You’ve probably heard it.  Someone you know, when it is 10 degrees outside and snowing, says, “Well, where’s that global warming now??”.

As you try to fight off the urge to punch them in the throat, try to take a breath…count to 10…and calmly explain to them that global warming cannot be proven, or dis-proven, by single events, or even periods that seem to support it or discredit it.  Record heat waves in the summer do not mean it is absolutely, positively occurring…just like record cold and snow in the winter …

Are you Tweeting?

followtwitter

If you haven’t jumped in to the world of Twitter yet, it either means you have checked it out, but aren’t interested, have heard of it, but aren’t sure what it is about, or are sitting there right now saying, “What is Twitter?”.

Twitter is basically a stream of short, 140-character messages, or “tweets”, sent by folks from all over the world.  You can follow as many (or as few) folks as you’d like, and the range of people on Twitter is just immense.  You can follow celebrities, sports stars, or your neighbor.  (or us!)

I’ve heard some folks say …

TechKnow: New phones headed our way?

That's a nice phone you got there, Bluegrass Cellular.

That's a nice phone you got there, Bluegrass Cellular.

A recent announcement by regional carrier Bluegrass Cellular says that they will be carrying the Motorola Milestone X soon.  No word yet on when it will hit the shelves, but some of the stories seem to indicate that a February release could be likely.

The Milestone X is basically the same phone as the Droid X offered by national carrier Verizon.  However, do to trademark issues, the phones have to be re-branded when carried by regional carries such as Bluegrass Cellular or our main carrier, Appalachian Wireless.

The Milestone X looks …

Can you hear me now??

Well, the 2010 general election has come and gone…finally…and the results are in (mostly).

Across the country, folks lined up to make their voices heard, and if you are President Obama, you have to have heard them loud and clear.  In overwhelming fashion, the Republicans took back control of the US House of Representatives from the Democrats.  People are obviously angry that things aren’t really getting any better (although you culd also argue that at least they aren’t getting any WORSE), and the Democratic party bore the brunt of that anger…or as President Obama called …

Vote! so those ads will FINALLY go away!!

dewey_defeats_truman

Well, we are less than a week away from the election now, so let’s do some polling! (scroll on down to the bottom to start voting and skip my ranting) 🙂

I think most of you will agree that this has been about as nasty a campaign on TV as there has been in some time.

On at least one occasion, I saw an entire commercial break filled with nothing but campaign ads…no actual commercials…just attack after attack.  Not only has there been a seemingly endless stream of campaign advertisements, several of them have just been ridiculous.

Jack Conway’s attack …

Bad Weather on the Way

You probably already know it by now, but if not, you should keep an eye on the sky this afternoon.  There is currently a Tornado Watch and Wind Advisory in effect for Morgan County.  So strap down the Jack-o-Lanterns and hang on to the foddershocks…this could get interesting.

Hang on to Toto. The dog. Not the band.…

Cool down ahead?

I would have opted for a pack of Kools, but I figured this might send a better message.

Well, I don’t have to tell you how hot it has been.  There’s several things it has been hotter than lately…Hades…love…the surface of the sun.  You get the idea.

It looks like this week may be headed fora  cool down, and it will be much welcomed by everyone, I’m sure.  Highs are projected to be in the upper 70’s and low 80’s, with nighttime lows in the 60’s and possibly the 50’s by Friday morning?  I like it.

I’ll have more to …
