What is up? Your Electric bill

Well, after talking to a few folks around the area, it seems like electric bills have taken a HUGE spike higher recently.  One obvious reason would be the extremely cold temperatures we had around here in January.  I know in our house, the heat stayed on constantly just to keep it semi-warm.  Since we primarily use natural gas, however, it didn’t have an effect on our electric bill as much.

Also, I’ve noticed that several of the complaints about higher electric bills have been coming from the folks who are on Licking Valley RECC.  I have talked to a few …

Easy…

About time to show the Vandy Nerds what SEC basketball is all about. I expect UK to come out SUPER focused and hand the Commodores their first SEC loss and get the Cats back on track.

The Cats will be mighty, mighty, and lettin’ it all hang out, and this win will be easy…like Sunday morning.

Sorry.

Go BLUE!!!

What he said…

In referencing the Republicans tonight, Obama said, if “leadership is going to insist that sixty votes in the Senate are required to do any business at all in this town, then the responsibility to govern is now yours as well. Just saying no to everything may be good short-term politics, but it’s not leadership.”

Obama speaking tonight…will anyone be listening?

Well, it is hard to imagine Obama has been in office for a year now. Seems like only yesterday when he was speaking to us and talking about the change he was going to bring to Washington.

So…a year later, what has changed?

Unemployment…still at record highs.

Oil prices…on the move UP after a dip earlier this year.

Health care…stalled as we wait for the new Republican Senator to be sworn in for Massachusetts.

The Environment…still there.

The Troops…still there, too.

Honestly, I still have faith that Obama can make good things happen for us. What I’m afraid of, however, …

I’m back! Sort of…

Well, as you may or may not know, my wife and I have been in the process of buying a house for most of this Summer, so I haven’t had a lot of extra time or mental focus for a while.  We finally were able to close around the end of August and it has been pretty much non-stop work since then.  We got our internet hooked up just last week, but I only got my computer unboxed and hooked up this past weekend…it has been a long process, to say the least!

Anyway, I’ll have more regular updates coming …

Wanna write for the Morgan Minute?

We’ll be making a few changes around here soon, and we are looking for some fresh new voices.  Also, why do I say we, when it is really only ME?? (Actually, we have a couple of new contributors lined up, so…take THAT!)

Either way…we want to add some new voices to the mix, and figured the best way to find them might be to ask right on here for some volunteers.

Volunteers is the key word here…there’s no payroll for MorganMinute.com.  This site runs on human hope and dreams (apologies to the Drive By Truckers)…and also on a server which …

Market in the Park This Saturday

Hey, folks.  I know that you may have seen it in the LVC, but please don’t forget to mark your calendar for the 1st (HOPEFULLY annual…or even more often!!) Market in the Park this upcoming Saturday, August 1st.  The market will open at 10am and run until 2pm at the Old Mill Park.

There will be folks there selling all kinds of very cool arts and crafts, as well as very tasty goodies from local gardens and kitchens.  There will also be activities for the kids, and some live tunes to listen to while you shop.

This very, very cool …
