A few items today…

So, Paintsville has gone “wet”…I guess this tight economy has everyone looking for more revenue sources.

Read about that here…

Also, looks like they had a little peeping Tom problem in Lexington…now, the guy was obviously a pervert, but with a name like his, did he really have a chance???

Best name EVER…

What’s HOT today? (May 30, 2009)

A brief rundown of  a few things that are buzzing on the web today…most of this is not newsworthy in ANY sense of the word. 🙂

A sexist Subaru ad from the 70’s (you’ve come a LONG way, baby!)

Cameron’s house is for sale, from Ferris Bueller.  Wonder if it includes the car??

Can I get one of these at Wal-Mart??  Or maybe Maloney’s?…

Calipari not involved in Memphis Mess

UK released a statement today (which you would have gotten from me, if you were one of my trusty Twitter followers!) regarding the situation in Memphis, where allegations of wrong-doing have surfaced over a former Calipari/Memphis player/recruit (most likely Derrick Rose). The UK statement:

First and foremost, there are no NCAA allegations against UK Head Men’s Basketball Coach John Calipari. Coach Calipari was forthcoming with the University of Kentucky during the hiring process about any issues under investigation at the University of Memphis at that time.

It is normal procedure for the NCAA to ask a former coach to participate

Between Two Ferns – 5-26-2009

In this episode, Zach Galifianakis interviews Bradley Cooper, one of the guys he co-stars with in the new movie “The Hangover”…which will hopefully be as funny as it looks.

I plan on posting some more episodes of of BTF (wasn’t that clever, how I shortened it down like that?) on here very soon..but since this newest one just came out today, I figured this was a good place to kick it off.

As with all After Dark content, there is a bit of language, so…keep that in mind if you are trying to sneak a peek while at work. 😉…

Danny McBride in Hot Rod

Last night we watched the movie “Hot Rod”, and I have to admit, it was one that was below my radar.  I’m glad my wife found it and DVR’d it, because it turned out to be a VERY funny movie.

There were several very funny scenes, but this one was, by far, the funniest to me.  No coincidence that it features Danny McBride, who may be one of the funniest people alive.

There is some rough language in here, so that is why I put it in our After Dark section.

(The setup is that Andy Samberg is an aspiring …

How about some weather?

If you take a look right up there on the navigation bar, you’ll notice a new Page, called simply, “Weather”. If you go ahead and give that button a click, you’ll find a radar loop for our area, along with the current conditions and local weather forecast. So, check it out!

Oh, and have a lovely Memorial Day…hopefully there won’t be too many rain showers on that new, fancy radar. 🙂…

It is a good day…

The Kentucky Wildcats basketball team is once again the talk of the country (well, in sports circles at least), and this time, it is the kind of talking we have been missing around here for quite some time.

So soak it in, Big Blue Nation…we are back.

Back on Top

And there’s a great story to go along with it here……

Exciting news…

We got

Kentucky is expected to make it official tomorrow, but the word is spreading all over the internet and has been crazy since this morning.  For those that didn’t understand the image, it means that we just landed John Wall, the #1 point guard in this recruiting class, and the final piece of the puzzle.

Also, Eric Bledsoe, the #5 point guard in the class (but 2nd according to some analysts only behind Wall) made the necessary grades to become eligible to enroll at UK next Fall.

Man, this is going to be a long summer!…

5-14-2009 — In my opinion…

– Calipari has done more for UK Basketball in 2 months than Gillispie did in 2 years (even though in an earlier post I swore up and down Billy G was the man for the job!)

– Butter is better than margarine

– West Liberty needs a Taco Bell, so I can totally derail the diet I have been on

– The economy is on the right track, although the effects of the recession will probably linger throughout the year

– Gas prices will peak in the $2.60 – $2.70 range this Summer before falling back to around $2/gallon some …

Lots of stuff on this Hump Day

There’s quite a few things going on today, but I’ll just hit the high(or low)lights…

– Eric Bledsoe committed to play for the University of Kentucky today.  The high school senior from Alabama averaged a triple-double as a senior last year, and he was one of the most highly ranked point guard prospects in his class, ranked second only to John Wall by many recruiting analysts.

The addition of Bledsoe makes the Cats INSTANTLY better for next season, but it also creates a pretty crowded roster, and they aren’t finished yet!  Coach Cal is still after Wall, and many sources …
