That’s the politics, baby…

So, the indictment against Morgan County Judge Executive Tim Conley has been dropped due to some shoddy handling of the case by the prosecutor. From what I’d read and heard about the case, it seemed like there was at least SOME sort of violation of the law that took place, however minor it may have been, and for the Republicans to try and justify what they did by saying, “Well, the Democrats have been doing it for years!” is not exactly an ideal way to say, “I’m innocent.”

Don’t misunderstand. I’m not at all saying that I wished for Judge …

Humberto shuts down refineries…

Strengthening from a tropical depression to a Category 1 storm in an unprecedented 18 hours, Hurricane Humberto came ashore near Galveston, Texas and is causing lots of troubles. Thousands are without power and several refineries have had to be shut down.

I saw a part of his Comedy Central special almost 10 years ago and immediately went and downloaded some of his material from Napster (when Napster was good).

Since that time, I have listened to this album, which was released as “Strategic Grill Locations), countless times, and I’ve tried to spread the word every chance I get. Sadly, Mitch Hedberg passed away in 2005, but his material …

The Sorghum Festival got a week closer…to me, that’s big news.  Not only does it mean that we’re one week closer to funnel cakes and soup beans and taco salads and…well, all sorts of goodies.  Oh yeah…and sorghum. 🙂

Some students found a threatening note in their locker at the high school, and students were searched the next morning as they arrived.  It is amazing how the times have changed.  Used to be, you might hear a student say to another student, “I’m gonna kill you!”…but you knew it wasn’t serious, or at worst meant there was liable to
